It comes after an Israeli defense official promise the strip will become a ‘tent city’ with every building to be demolished.

Images reveal a countless number of homes and vehicles have been reduced to rubble as emergency services continue to dig for survivors.

At least 140 Palestinian children have been killed since Saturday, human rights group Defence for Children International Palestine has confirmed.

More than 200 locations were targeted throughout Gaza, killing more than 700 people and injuring 4,000 more.

Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defense minister, said ‘all restraints on fighters have been released’ and promised an intensification of fighting.

‘Hamas wanted a change and it will get one. What was in Gaza will no longer be,’ he said.

‘We started the offensive from the air, later on we will also come from the ground. We’ve been controlling the area since Day Two and we are on the offensive. It will only intensify.

‘Whoever comes to decapitate, murder women, Holocaust survivors — we will eliminate him at the height of our power and without compromise.’

The al-furqan neighbourhood was particularly targeted, with Israeli defense officials claiming it is a ‘nest of terror’.

The area – named after a local mosque – was allegedly used by Hamas to launch the attacks on Israel.

The strikes destroyed the Hamas-linked Islamic university, and hit 80 Hamas targets in the Beit Hanoun area of the northeastern Gaza Strip, including two bank branches used to ‘fund terrorism’.

Israel has also suspended supplies of food, water and electricity and fuel to Palestinians.

The war, which has claimed at least 2,100 lives on both sides, is only expected to escalate as Israel remains determined to crush the militant group.

In Israel, at least 1,200 have been killed, while officials in Gaza say 900 people have been killed.
