SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) – A Kentucky teacher was suspended after allowing a student to dress up as a Ku Klux Klan member.

Pulaski County school leaders confirmed that a Southern Middle School teacher was suspended after a student dressed up as Ku Klux Klan grand wizard as part of a history project.

Superintendent Patrick Richardson said he is extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the incident.

“I would hope our school and community realize that this does not represent the character of our students and staff at southern middle school or our district as a whole. “

Richardson also confirmed there’s a video circulating with the wrong teacher’s contact information on it.

the superintendent said the educator mentioned in the video is innocent and should be treated as such.

An investigation is underway now and school leaders said the situation will be reported to the Education Professional Standards Board.
