Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assault and the abuse of four women, including one who was just 16.

However the comedian has vehemently denied all the allegations against him, slamming them as “aggressive attacks”.

He released a video statement on Friday evening (September 15) in which he claimed he had received two “extremely disturbing letters” from a “mainstream media TV company” as well as a newspaper.

And on Saturday afternoon, The Times published the claims, which come from four alleged victims.

According to the publication, the alleged victims have claimed that the incidents took place between 2006 and 2013, when Brand was at the height of his fame.

But Brand has strenuously denied the allegations in his video statement

The joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches makes four key allegations.

– A woman alleges she was raped her against a wall in his Los Angeles home by Brand.

– Second woman alleges she was assaulted by Brand when she was a schoolgirl aged 16 and he was 31.

– A third woman claims she was sexually assaulted while she worked with Bradnd in Los Angeles

– While a fourth female said she was sexually assaulted by Brand. She claims he was physically and emotionally abusive towards her

Last night Brand dramatically denied the allegations on his YouTube channel in a post titled “So, This Is Happening”.

He said: “Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque, attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”

Brand said that the claims related to a time when he was often in the newspapers.

“As I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous,” he added in his video.

“During that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent. And I’m being transparent about it now as well.

“And to see that transparency metastasised into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?”

He continued: “I don’t mind them using my books and my stand-up to talk about my promiscuous, consensual conduct in the past. What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations.

“Also it’s worth mentioning there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives these two mainstream outlets are trying to construct, apparently in what seems to me to be a co-ordinated attack.

“I don’t want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations but I feel like I’m being attacked and plainly they are working very closely together.

“We are obviously going to look into this matter because it is very, very serious. In the meantime I want you to stay close, stay awake but more importantly than any of that, if you can, please stay free.”
