Former President Donald Trump forgot that there was no audience at his presidential debate last week with Vice President Kamala Harris, saying the nonexistent entity went “crazy.”

Appearing on Wednesday’s Gutfeld! on Fox News, Trump recalled last Tuesday’s event hosted by ABC News and moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis. As with Trump’s debate with President Joe Biden in June, there was no audience.

Conservatives and some centrist pundits criticized the moderators for fact-checking some of Trump’s more egregiously false statements, including his claim that Haitian migrants are stealing and eating people’s pets in Ohio. Critics were particularly irked by the fact that the moderators did not correct Harris’s statements. A CNN fact check of the debate concluded that Trump uttered at least 33 falsehoods to Harris’s one.

“And they didn’t correct her once,” Trump told Greg Gutfeld. “And they corrected me, everything I said, practically. I think nine times or 11 times. And the audience was absolutely– they went crazy.”

The former president said it was a “great debate” and then touted its ratings.

“You have to do well,” he said of the debate. “You can’t do badly.”

On the day of the Gutfeld! taping, Trump was in New York for a rally on Long Island on Wednesday. During his speech, he suggested the aforementioned migrants will kill him and claimed he will win New York, which he lost by more than 20 points in 2016 and 2020.
