Stumbling Donald Trump struggled to open a truck door and nearly fell over in a humiliating video from his garbage stunt.
The 78-year-old, who has been ramping up the aggressive rhetoric with ‘scum’ comments but struggling to keep his rally crowds awake, arrived at his Green Bay rally on Wednesday night in a garbage truck.
“250 million people are not garbage. I can tell you who the real garbage is but I won’t say that,” Trump told reporters gathered on the runway after landing in Wisconsin while wearing a bright orange high vis vest.
The former president then staggered towards the truck, completely missed the door handle then almost fell to the ground.
As he tried to regain his composure, Trump couldn’t clasp hold of the handle and once he finally got it open he needed help getting up.
“I said I think it’s ok but I don’t feel comfortable wearing a suit…then they said, ‘Sir we have a vest.’ I said, ‘Should I leave my suit on and put it over the vest? But that doesn’t look very good.’
Trump went on to explain he feared getting up into a passenger seat that was so high, but was pleased to see a “beautiful” driver who looked like Carrie Grant.
He told his followers: “I said, ‘Man this is bad as all the cameras are on me. I said, ‘Oh man, if I don’t get up there this will be very embarrassing.”
Trump even acknowledged that people might say he is “cognitively and physically impaired.”
Trump’s stunt came after Biden addressed the recent comments made at the Trump rally in Madison Square Garden, which featured a comedian making a “joke” that Puerto Rico is a “floating island of garbage.”
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump’s] supporters,” the president said on the zoom.
In response, Trump said it was a “disgrace” for Biden to refer to his supporters in that way.
He asked: “How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.”
